Takuwa Corporation (main office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Shinji Okuda) is pleased to announce that its quartz-type water level gauges (type RS485) that enable highly accurate, real-time water level surveillance are installed on the Chao Phraya River, which is under the jurisdiction of the Royal Irrigation Department of Thailand*1.
In Thailand, adaptive measures for climate change have been established, and the government is promoting strategic measures for flood control and water utilization.
In Thailand, rainfall increases from June to October during the rainy season, and it causes flooding. In 2011, Thailand experienced unprecedented flooding, and Bangkok was severely affected. The causes of such flooding are heavy rain due to typhoons, increased discharge of water from dams in the north, and high tides. Therefore, the establishment of an integrated climate change adaptive strategy is an important issue to control the impact of climate change on agriculture, industry, and people's lives in Thailand.
Takuwa is working to promote the strategy in Thailand together with the Royal Thai Government and local governments in the country.
As part of it, our quartz-type water level gauges (type RS485) were installed on the Chao Phraya River, which is under the jurisdiction of the Royal Irrigation Department of Thailand.
The RS485 quartz-type water level gauge uses a quartz crystal for pressure sensing, enabling highly accurate water level measurement. Thus, it helps enable more accurate and advanced flood control.
