During the past three years, when economic activity slowed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we did not just stand still and wait. To prepare for the easing of the pandemic and the gradual return of economic activity, we took the opportunity to reflect on our position and focused on embedding the concept of risk assessment (RA) across the company to strengthen the reliability our customers place in us.
Having acquired ISO 45001 certification, we have continuously emphasized the importance of risk assessment (RA) within our organization. In today’s uncertain and turbulent times, where the future is difficult to predict, companies and individuals need to take risks and continuously embrace new challenges to survive. RA refers to the process of estimating how much risk can be tolerated when taking on a challenge. At Takuwa, we actively create opportunities to apply RA in the operations we carry out.
Water level measurement technology is currently undergoing a major transformation. Humanity has developed remote sensing technology that uses satellites to measure Earth’s water resources. This marks the beginning of a new era in which we can monitor the conditions of oceans, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and ice sheets around the world in real time. Thanks to technology that collects and analyzes data from space, we can now understand the movement of water on Earth and the circulation of water in the atmosphere more clearly than ever before.
Takuwa recognizes this as a major transformation in the business environment and acknowledges the possibility that current water level gauges may eventually become outdated. While it may not happen right away, we believe that day will come within the next decade.
So what will Takuwa do when that time comes? Before we get to that, let’s take a quick look back at the path Takuwa has taken so far.
Takuwa’s history began in 1968 when it started selling reed switch type water level gauges. Starting with signature products such as the reed switch type water level gauges and quartz type water level gauges, Takuwa created its own markets in erosion control and road surface management, gaining achievements and credibility in each business as we grew. In other words, Takuwa has always forged its own path into the future. We are a company that has explored uncharted territories, established markets, and built a reputation grounded in trust and proven results. This stance will remain unchanged moving forward.
Now, let’s get back on track.
Recognizing the changes in the business environment, we have already taken two key actions. One is to give additional value to our current water level gauges, and the other is to develop products that meet the needs of a sustainable world. We have quickly embraced these two initiatives and are actively advancing them. The latter especially involves developing products outside Takuwa’s traditional business domains, which marks a new challenge for the company. Takuwa is a company that develops unique products found nowhere else in the world, sells them globally, and competes on the international stage. Takuwa will continue adapting to changing times by reinventing itself, creating new markets, transforming society, evolving continuously, and securing its lasting presence.
