We should accept the fact that the water crisis has jeopardized the existence of humans. From now on, we must abandon our self-centered attitudes toward the use of water, on which we have relied for so long, to save not only this precious resource but also our lives.
To thrive once again with water, our only option is to immediately restore our relationship with it, which has deteriorated due to our self-centered goals. And this requires an accurate understanding of the characteristics of water. Takuwa aims to rebuild the altruistic relationship that humans once had with water by using intricate observation data obtained through the use of its own technologies and expertise to solve social issues.
As previously mentioned, humans have prospered by expanding their living areas through communing and coexistence with water.
“Coexistence” here implies a mutualism, to live together by supporting each other. Humans in the early days respected a cycle of rain and drying that they learned from the shifting seasons and the moon's phases, and developed a unique culture and society by synchronizing their lives with the cycle. People of this era practiced a way of understanding and communing with water on a daily basis.
Since the Industrial Revolution, however, humans have taken self-centered control over water, or one-sided exploitation in the name of development, which resulted from giving too much priority to the pursuit of their own wealth. This has caused a water crisis due to climate change.
We should accept the fact that the water crisis has jeopardized the existence of humans. From now on, we must abandon our self-centered attitudes toward the use of water, on which we have relied for so long, to save not only this precious resource but also our lives. This is to restore the former mutually respectful relationship with water, where humans treated it with appreciation and affection.
Water has never changed its behavior. It is humans who have changed. Improvement in the relationship with water requires humans to change their self-centered behavior toward the use of water. To address the clear and present crisis, humans must change their way of using water from a self-centered manner that prioritizes only their own convenience to an altruistic manner that respects the laws of nature.
Our founder Masaji Okuda stressed the ethos of coexistence with water from the beginning of the company. Throughout his life, he strove to commune with and learn from rivers.
It means that we need to study the characteristics of flowing water and deeply understand how it keeps changing through sincere observation of river flows, and establish a mutually respectful relationship with water by using it with appreciation and affection.
This committed philosophy has been passed down to Takuwa of the present day. At Takuwa, we do not control but respect water, like our families and friends. We are making efforts to deeply study and understand the characteristics of water by observing river flows that change every moment.
To thrive once again with water, our only option is to immediately restore the relationship with water that has deteriorated due to our self-centered purposes. This requires an accurate understanding of water characteristics.
As previously stated, the cause of the crisis is self-centered human production activities.
Due to large amounts of greenhouse gases produced by humans' insatiable pursuit of wealth, global warming is reaching a level that endangers the continued existence of humankind. It has contributed to a significant rise in the global sea water temperature. The effects have become so serious that they can now be seen in our daily lives, including rising sea levels; frequent development of storms, such as unprecedentedly large typhoons; and drastic changes in global climate due to the slowdown of deep water circulation. Researchers around the world say that if this continues, humans may be unable to survive on Earth in the near future. Humanity's existential risks are getting worse.
The water on Earth is in danger. It is time for us to protect the “life of water.”
At Takuwa, we have the technologies and expertise to study the appropriate height of the river water surface that changes every moment, or the water level, by understanding the ever-changing characteristics of water.
We aim to rebuild the altruistic relationship that humans once had with water by using intricate observation data obtained through the use of our own technologies and expertise to solve social issues. This is to create a future where people continue to live in harmony with water.
