Takuwa Corporation (main office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Shinji Okuda) is pleased to announce that its quartz-type water level gauges that enable highly accurate, real-time water level surveillance are installed on the Vajiralongkorn Dam (Khao Lam Dam)*2, which is under the jurisdiction of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT)*1.
In recent years, the demand for electricity has been rapidly increasing along in Thailand with its
economic development. However, fossil fuel resources (coal, oil, and natural gas) in Thailand have
been on a downward trend in recent years, and the natural gas, which is the main energy resource in
the country, is expected to run out in the near future. For this reason, in Thailand, there is a
demand for renewable energy with proportions of power supply sources that help reduce the burden on
the environment.
Vajiralongkorn Dam (formerly known as Khao Laem Dam), where our quartz-type
water level gauges are installed, is located along the Kwai Noi River in Kanchanaburi Province and
the first rockfill dam covered with reinforced concrete in the country. It plays an important role
in storing large amounts of water in the rainy season to mitigate floods of the river.
Our quartz-type water level
gauges have been installed at the Vajiralongkorn Dam under the jurisdiction of the
Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.
Our quartz-type water level gauge uses a quartz
crystal for pressure sensing, enabling highly accurate water level measurement. Thus, it helps
enable more accurate and sophisticated power generation control and precise safety management at the
dam.
