Takuwa Corporation (main office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Shinji Okuda) is pleased to announce that its quartz-type water level gauges (titanium) that enable highly accurate, real-time water level surveillance are installed at pump stations under the jurisdiction of the Drainage and Sewerage Department of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.^*1.

Bangkok is a city with a flat topography, and because the Chao Phraya River is a tidal river, the city has been hit by flooding many times.
The cause of the flooding in Thailand in 2011 was the rise in the water level of the Chao Phraya River due to high tide. As the rising water flowed downstream, flooding spread to the center of the capital city of Bangkok from mid-October to the end of the month, having a major impact over a wide area including Bangkok and other urban areas.
Due to the topography of the areas, it is difficult to make rainwater drain naturally into the Chao Phraya River, and the rapid urbanization of the areas has led to an increase in the scale of flooding damage, thus measures for flood prevention measures have been urgently needed there.

In order to maintain the functionality of pumping stations within the jurisdiction of the Drainage and Sewerage Department of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, our highly corrosion-resistant titanium quartz-type water level gauges are installed on the river.
